First Public University in Virginia To Leverage New Legislation for Energy Improvements
THE OPPORTUNITY
Improve the efficiency, comfort, and learning environment at the university’s main campus without using existing capital budgets, and develop a strategic plan to identify future improvement prospects.
THE RESULTS
Energy Systems Group, in collaboration with the leaders and administrators of NSU, developed an innovative and unique solution using new, state legislation to implement this $2.1 million initial project:
- Provided a No Capital Cost Financing Package to Enable Existing Funds to Flow to Education
- Guaranteed Energy Savings to Maximize Budgets
- Upgraded HVAC, Lighting & Electrical Systems and Controls Extending Building Life and Effectiveness
- Improved Student & Staff Comfort and Learning Environment
- Reduced Campus Water Consumption Saving Dollars and the Environment
