Project Overview Information
Clark Atlanta University intends to renovate and modernize three residential halls and when completed will provide 348 newly improved student living accomodations. Improvements will include new HVAC systems, new plumbing systems and fixtures, new electrical systems and wiring, new CATV systems, new fire protection and life safety systems, new exterior windows and doors, new lighting, new finishes including floor and ceiling finishes , new acoustical walls and wall paint. Exterior improvements will include new roof eaves, new gutters and downspouts and new basement level waterproofing. Basement levels will contain new laundries, new student bedrooms, new student lounges, new study rooms and storage rooms. Bedrooms and common area lounges will be fitted out with new furniture.
Brookwood Program Management was retained by Clark Atlanta University to be the Program Manager and Owner’s Representative for this project. Work includes the Asbestos Abatement and Interior demolition and clean up of Pfeiffer, Merner & Holmes Halls and the complete renovation of those halls and the demolition of Brawley Hall.
Status of Work (As of July 2008)
A Certificate of Occupancy was issued from the City of Atlanta for Pheiffer Hall in July. Punch list work has begun and is almost complete. The furniture has been delivered and is currently being installed. Some of the rooms have been outfitted as model rooms for new students and parents to view. The dorm will be ready for occupancy when the students arrive in mid August.
