CAU Distribution Piping
Project Overview

Energy Systems Group, LLC (ESG) was hired to engineer, design and install new piping to all the main campus facilities that will provide hot water for heating and chilled water for cooling.  This distribution piping will connect the newly renovated James B. Shepherd Central Utility Plant to the majority of the main campus buildings. This new piping is another major step in providing reliable and efficient heating and cooling to all the major buildings on the CAU campus.  This first phase of the piping will connect several major on the main campus and has been designed for the future connection of all the major buildings on the CAU Campus.  This forward thinking by Clark Atlanta University is another major step in providing and planning for a better, safer and modern campus.

Central Utility Plant

Project Overview

Energy Systems Group, LLC (ESG) was selected in December of 2006 to completely renovate the James B Shepherd Central Utility Plant to provide Clark Atlanta, Spelman and Morehouse with steam, hot water for heating and chilled water for cooling for the next 15 years.  ESG is building a state of the art central plant for maximum reliability and highest efficiency by installing two new high efficient boilers that utilize either natural gas or propane and one boiler using electricity.  This design gives your central utility plant to make steam from three different sources of fuel making it the most reliable and lowest cost to operate plant in the Southeast.  ESG is also expanding the use of the Central Utility Plant to provide chilled water for airconditioning and high temperature hot water for both heating and domestic hot water.  Other renovations include a facelift of the entire building with the installation of a new roof, cleaning of the existing windows and new paint throughout the building.  All these renovations in the Central Utility Plant is the foundation for modernizing  the Clark Atlanta University campus.
