West Palm Beach, Florida
The City of West Palm Beach selected Energy Systems Group (ESG) to develop a
$4.3 million energy performance contract with the following key goals:
• Reduce Utility Consumption and Expense across City
• Support Achievement toward the City’s Sustainability Plan Goals
• Fund NeededWork to Alleviate Strained Capital Budgets
• Implement Leading Technologies such as LED Street Lighting
The partnership with ESG underlines the City’s commitment to enhance its
viability as a modern model of healthy, environmentally progressive and
ecologically sustainable, urban living.
Strategies & Solutions
ESG installed LED and induction lighting in all City-owned and maintained street
lights; comprehensive lighting retrofits at City Center Complex, Police Station,
Fire Stations 1, 6 & 7, at 9 City Parks and the Municipal Golf Course; and lighting
retrofits and controls in 3 city garages. The project is anticipated to result in $8.9+
million in reduced energy and operations costs over a 15-year term.
ESG also developed an additional EECBG (Energy Efficiency and Conservation
Block Grant Program) for the City which includes the installation of programmable
thermostats in 8 city facilities; low flow water fixtures in 10 facilities; and variable
drives and solar fans for 14 City lift stations. This project will result in about
$76,000 in annual savings that will be reinvested to fund future sustainability
initiatives for the City.
