The College of Wooster Goes Green
Reducing Campus Carbon Footprint by at least 36%
The College of Wooster is an independent liberal arts college, nationally recognized for an innovative curriculum that emphasizes mentored undergraduate research. Founded in 1866, the college enrolls approximately 2,000 students.
Underlining its sustainability and energy efficiency commitment, the College of Wooster partnered with Energy Systems Group (ESG) to develop a comprehensive performance contracting project to further the progress of the College of Wooster becoming a greener, sustainable campus.
The $5 million, 10-year performance contract with ESG includes building upgrades that will reduce the college’s coal, natural gas and electrical consumption while reducing its carbon footprint by at least 36 percent and yielding net operational savings of $5.6 million over the 10-year life of the contract.
ESG Presents Wooster with a Solar-Powered Sustainability Vehicle
You may have recently noticed the College of Wooster’s solar-powered, six-passenger golf cart roving across the campus transporting college visitors, staff and alumni. Presented by Energy Systems Group (ESG), the energy services provider currently implementing a comprehensive energy efficiency and building improvement project on campus, this sustainability vehicle is a solar electric hybrid car and is a great way to reduce the Wooster carbon footprint and promote renewable energy.
