As part of our commitment to insuring a high quality experience for the children in Community Consolidated Schools District 168, our Board has engaged in the process of renovating our facilities to a higher standard than ever seen in our Village. The work we are doing will impact generations of students in Sauk Village. We will be working in phases over the coming 18 months to bring to the community state of the art facilities for our children. When we have completed the work, you will see new playgrounds at Wagoner and Strassburg; new flooring at all three buildings; new piping and water filtration system at all three buildings; an upgraded track at Rickover; a new Learning Resource Center at Rickover; and remodels of our sixth grade wing at Rickover. We are very excited about the possibilities being created for our children though this work. In addition to the opportunities for our students, this work will also provide the district with significant operational savings in the years to come showing a great deal of fiscal prudence on the part of our Board.
As we move through the various phases of construction, we want to insure that our community is kept up to date. To that end, we welcome you to visit this site, follow my Twitter feed and our Facebook page. If you have questions, we encourage you to reach out via email, telephone, Monthly Superintendent Coffee Chats at the Administrative Center, Monthly Principal Coffee Chats at the buildings, and our Let’s Talk Feature on the district website. We look forward to sharing along the way and celebrating with our final products. Our mission to inspire, challenge and support every child every day is at the heart of all that we do! Thank you for your continued support!

Community Consolidated Schools District 168
Consolidated Schools District 168 was one of 29 school districts qualified to receive $9 million in Qualified School Construction Bonds (QSCB) for capital improvements and repairs. The QSCB is part of a Federal Program to assist school districts with capital projects needed to update and maintain buildings and grounds. Close to 200 School districts across the state applied for the QSCB. The intent of the Federal program is to allow districts to issues bonds for which the federal government will cover the interest cost thereby allowing school districts to be responsible for the principal and not the full interest costs.
This opportunity allows the district to make needed repairs now while still being able to maintain a fund balance for other needed future expenditures. Without a budget from the State, the fund balance allows the district to still operate at full capacity at the opening of the 2016-17 and 2017-18 school years. As part of the transformation of District 168, the Board of Education is addressing the needs of CCSD 168 students in a holistic way which includes providing the best learning spaces possible. It is the district's goal to use this project in attracting families to Sauk Village to take advantage of the updated buildings and new curricular initiatives supporting our children. The initial set of building improvement priorities include the following:
New playground
Flooring replacement
Asbestos abatement
Domestic water quality treatment
Replacement of domestic water system piping and fixtures including
ADA compliance
